Five arcade racers that feel great on a touchscreen

Touchscreen racing is hard to get right. Without a wheel or a stick, tilt and tap controls have to be forgiving or the whole thing falls apart. After weeks of testing, here are the ones that actually feel good.

Nitro District tops my list for pure arcade fun. The drift-and-boost loop is instantly readable, and the handling forgives just enough to keep you flowing through corners instead of slamming walls.

What separates a good mobile racer from a bad one usually comes down to two things: control latency and a clear sense of speed. If either is off, your brain rejects the whole experience. The best entries here nail both.

A quick tip for any of them: turn off assisted braking once you're comfortable. It sounds counterintuitive, but manual control shaved seconds off my lap times almost immediately.
